Tipping Points Series of Environmental Presentations

Citrus County Councilâ€™s Environment and
Natural Resources Committee is hosting Tipping Points, a series of presentations pertaining to our environment and vanishing water supply. Jon Brainard, education chair for the Suwanee-St. Johns Sierra Club, will share a PowerPoint presentation followed by a discussion Saturday, June 21, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Central Ridge Library in Beverly Hills, FL. The presentation will focus on seven important issues, from the value of trees to climate change and springs/water issues.
Jon is a lifelong Florida resident, having grown up in Orange County, Florida. After getting his bachelor's degree from Florida State University, he began his teaching career in Brooksville, Florida. He eventually returned to Orange County to continue his 37-year career, teaching exceptional education, science and gifted studies. Upon retirement, the Dunnellon area caught his eye, and he now lives near Rainbow Springs.
Citrus County Council (CCC) is a not-for-profit, non-partisan consortium of homeowner associations, civic clubs and environmental groups whose mission is to protect our environment and natural resources, thereby preserving the quality of life in Citrus County.
CCC monitors local government, researches issues and disseminates relevant information to citizens. Meetings are the second Wednesday of each month at 9 a.m. at the Beverly Hills Lions Club, 72 Civic Circle, Beverly Hills, FL and are open to the public.
The CCC Environment & Natural Resources Committee works to inform Citrus County citizens of environmental issues affecting our area. Meetings are the first Monday of each month at 10 a.m. at the Citrus County Extension Building, 3650 W Sovereign Path, Lecanto, FL.
